Javier Ortega-Araiza

Experience Designer

Javier Ortega-Araiza is the Founder and Managing Director of Mountain Brook Experiences, where he designs international academic and executive education programmes that connect learning with the real world. Over the past 16 years, he has designed and led educational experiences in more than 50 countries for over 10,000 students, executives, and professionals. An educator at heart, Javier has built a multidisciplinary career as an entrepreneur, investor, writer, journalist, and international programme designer. His work is driven by a simple belief: the most meaningful learning happens when people are in a place that inspires them to be open to new ideas. Travelling serves that purpose. Throughout his career, Javier has designed and delivered customised programmes for universities, business schools, corporations, and professional organisations across North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. His programmes combine academic rigour with direct access to business leaders, entrepreneurs, policymakers, cultural institutions, and global organisations, giving participants perspectives that cannot be replicated in a traditional classroom. Javier has delivered guest lectures and workshops on entrepreneurship, finance, storytelling, leadership, global citizenship, and international business. His teaching philosophy draws on more than two decades of professional experience across multiple industries and his belief that education should inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful dialogue. As a writer and former journalist, Javier has contributed to publications including Business Insider and FOX Money, and previously worked as a journalist for The Canadian Press. Today, he writes about entrepreneurship, technology, finance, travel, and personal development, and he serves as an editor for integrated communications firm Mindset. Having lived and worked as a digital nomad across more than 30 countries, Javier brings a global perspective to every programme he designs. His experiences navigating different cultures and business environments have reinforced his commitment to crafting journeys that make a mark in people's lives. His passion for education began long before Mountain Brook. As a tennis coach, Javier discovered the satisfaction of helping others grow through discipline and encouragement. That same philosophy continues to shape every learning experience he creates today.
